Safety Incentive Program

The benefits of a safety-focused workforce are priceless, which is why Chicago Area LECET is deeply committed to helping make the construction industry as safe as possible for Laborers and all construction workers. We continually support and help implement new safety regulations and laws designed to help keep workers safe on the job. An example of this commitment to safety is the unique Safety Incentive Program (SIP) that we have created.

The SIP encourages Laborers and their employing contractors to be more safety conscious by allowing LECET signatory contractors to nominate union Laborers that have worked safely in the field for their organization for one quarter of the calendar year. Nominated Laborers that meet the safety and hours requirements are eligible to win valuable prizes and gift certificates.

In addition to the randomly selected contractors that are allowed to nominate Laborers, any contractor that wants to nominate is free to do so – although any one contractor may only nominate once per calendar year. So, if it is third or fourth quarter and your company has not yet been selected, go ahead and reward one of your Laborers with a valuable gift certificate by nominating them for the SIP.

LECET will also randomly select contractors to nominate Laborers for an unbelievable annual grand prize – a brand new pick-up truck! Each year, one lucky laborer becomes the proud new owner of a brand new truck, thanks in part to the participation of their employing contractor. Each quarter, LECET randomly selects 200 contractors to nominate Laborers for SIP prizes. The first 75 forms submitted to us, including online nominations, that qualify will be accepted - and one eligible Laborer from each qualifying company will be randomly selected to receive an award. Please be aware that in order to participate, your organization must be current with the appropriate Laborers' Health & Welfare and Pension Funds and the Laborers' Work Dues Funds.

Nominated Laborers must have no lost time or OSHA recordable events due to a work-related accident or illness during the quarter for which they are nominated, and must have worked 250 hours in the calendar quarter.
